In commemoration of Star Trek Online's fourth anniversary, Perfect World has launched the mid-season update, Season 8.5, which was announced earlier this month.
From today until February 27, Captains will be able to play a new 'Featured Episode' titled "A Step Between Stars," with Star Trek: Voyager actor Tim Russ reprising his role as Admiral Tuvok.
After each playthrough of the event, Captains will be able to choose between one of three pieces of unique ship equipment. They'll also be rewarded with 400 'Qmendations' on completion of their first playthrough. 'Qmendations' are used to unlock one of the newly added Dyson Science Destroyers.
Other events featured in the anniversary festivities include 'Q's Party Patrol' missions in which the player can earn 40 Qmendations each day, along with other cosmetic items.
IGN gave Star Trek Online a 6.8 when it was released in 2010. We really enjoyed its beautiful graphics, but we weren't so enamored by its repetitive gameplay.
