15 years ago today, Konami released Silent Hill. With nine games and two movies, the franchise has become a phenomenon that survival horror fanatics love to play when they're home alone. Originally released for the PlayStation, Silent Hill had you play as an "everyman" searching for his daughter through the fog-filled town of Silent Hill.
We asked fans what their favorite memories were and we started to remember why Silent Hill terrifies us.
Nando P. - Watching Andrew DeSalvo's ghost cutscene in SH4 and then having to walk down that spiral staircase. My first NOPE in gaming.
Rodney M. - In Silent Hill 4, when you looked though the wall and that stuffed rabbit was pointing at you, man did that freak me out on some subconscious level. I had a pet rabbit at the time, and I refused to go near it for the next week
Rebecca S. - When you are in the hospital wing and you go into one of the patient rooms and there was a huge Lisa head starting at you.....super creepy, I jumped and threw the controller.
Matt B. - Silent Hill 2. Such an incredibly eerie and demonic feeling. But at the same time it was also weirdly blissful feeling. That game will always be my favorite survival horror ever. Also got the same feeling from Shattered Memories, which is a close second. In my restless dreams, I see that town...... silent Hill....... I LOVE YOU SILENT HILL!
Johnathan V. - Playing at 2am in the dark and having to turn it off because I'm a giant coward lol.
Luke F. - The first Silent Hill left permanent damage on my soul. That elementary school....
