Germany-based publisher and developer Bigpoint has announced that it's employed Craig Scott, formerly of EVE Online developer CCP, to lead the design on a brand-new MMO.
Scott has worked on various big-name MMOs for the past 14 years, including APB: All Points Bulletin and the aforementioned sci-fi MMO EVE Online. On EVE, he started out designing the character creation before eventually moving up to manage the entire design team.
Most recently, Scott was tasked with "turning the fate" of Dust514, which received mixed reviews upon release. He sees the change of workplace as a "space for trying new things."
Bigpoint CEO Khaled Helioui says that Scott will be working on an as-yet-unnamed "new breed of MMO." Will it possibly match EVE's huge scale? We'll let you know as soon as we find out, of course.
EVE Online is known for its huge battles, often resulting in hundreds of thousands of dollars' worth of damage to real-life bank accounts. In fact, it is a game so notoriously epic that its players' names will soon be immortalised in a monument built by CCP. We rated it an 8 in our 2003 review.
Bigpoint deals primarily in browser-based free-to-play games, with titles such as Drakensang Online and Battlestar Galactica Online on its roster.
