The He-Man movie, Masters of the Universe, is moving forward, but which potential director will… have… the… power…?!
The Wrap reports that Harald Zwart (The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones), Mike Cahill (Another Earth), and Chris McKay are the frontrunners for the job of bringing Prince Adam to the big screen for Sony. If McKay were to land the gig, it would mark his first live-action feature film. He previously served as editor and animation supervisor/co-director on The Lego Movie, and also has a bunch of TV animation credits to his name including Robot Chicken.
G.I. Joe’s Jon M. Chu had been onboard the project for a while, but word came last fall that he had dropped out. Terry Rossio (The Lone Ranger) wrote the most recent draft of Masters of the Universe, which at one point was known as Grayskull and has also had drafts by Michael Finch and Alex Litvak (Predators) and Richard Wenk (The Expendables 2).
