Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft players will soon have a way to customize their digital decks beyond the cards included in them, as Blizzard has announced it will soon release new card back designs.
Five new card backs were shown off by Blizzard today, each with its own way of unlocking it. The specific process for earning most of the backs was not revealed; Blizzard instead only stated they could be earned through things like special events and participating in ranked play. One, however, was said to be unlocked by achieving the Legend rank -- the game's highest ranking during any given season in ranked play.

The new card backs are purely cosmetic; they won't have any effect on how your cards work, but they will allow you to customize your deck, show off your accomplishments, and potentially get some sense of how good your opponent might be. New card back designs were first announced last year as a reward for ranked play.
A release date for the backs was not announced. Blizzard said they are "coming soon" and indicated more designs are on the way.
Following a period in closed beta, an open beta for Hearthstone began last month. The free-to-play card game is available on PC and Mac, with iOS and Android versions planned for release in the future.
