The team behind The Social Network could be reuniting for Sony's long-planned biopic of late Apple co-founder Steve Jobs.
Variety reports that David Fincher is in talks to direct the Aaron Sorkin-scripted biopic from producer Scott Rudin. The film is an adaptation of Walter Isaacson's best-selling biography titled Steve Jobs.
Deadline, however, cautions "Fincher hasn’t even had a meeting on the project yet, but he certainly has a close relationship with producer Scott Rudin from The Social Network. Will it happen? Who knows? At this point he read the script and they will have a conversation, and this is as far as this has gone — no negotiations at this point."
Sorkin has previously revealed that his Jobs script is structured like a stage play with each of the three acts devoted to being backstage before a production launch, specifically the Mac, NeXT, and the iPod.
Variety adds that if a deal is reached with Fincher then filming would likely begin at the end of this year.
