3DS Selling Faster than Game Boy Advance in Japan

Nintendo 3DS is now selling faster than Game Boy Advance in Japan. According to Media Create sales (via Siliconera), 3DS is currently in its 154th week after release and has Japanese sales of 15 million units. Compare this to Game Boy Advance, which had 11.64 million units sold during the same time frame in its lifespan.

The original Nintendo DS is still ahead of 3DS, as it had a little over 20 million units sold on its 154th week on the Japanese market. As IGN reported last week, 3DS has sold over 40 million units worldwide.

Despite this success, Nintendo slashed sales forecasts in January for Nintendo 3DS for the 2013 fiscal year. But if it continues at this rate, 3DS just might surpass Game Boy Advance in total sales. The GBA sold 81.5 million units worldwide in about six and a half years on the market. 3DS has achieved about half of those sales in 3 years.
