So last night word broke that the classic character the Vision will be appearing in Marvel’s Avengers: Age of Ultron, with Paul Bettany playing the android villain-turned-hero. But it sounds like there’s yet another Avenger poised to join the roster in Joss Whedon’s sequel.
Latino Review’s scoop-master El Mayimbe says that Ms. Marvel is also in the film -- and that she’s the last piece of “major casting” left for Age of Ultron.
Why Ms. Marvel Is a Worthy Female Lead for Marvel Phase 3.
We’ve all assumed Ms. Marvel -- the Carol Danvers version, probably -- would show up in a Marvel film eventually. She’s one of the company’s best bets at launching a female character into her own standalone series, after all. Katee Sackhoff had been rumored to be up for a Marvel role -- possibly Ms. Marvel -- some months back, though who knows where that stands now.
Danvers, of course, eventually went on to become Captain Marvel in the comics, though I wonder if using that name will be an issue for Marvel, since DC has its own Captain Marvel (a.k.a. Shazam)?
Meanwhile, a new Ms. Marvel -- a teenage Muslim girl named Kamala Khan -- just debuted in her own book this week. Read our review of Ms. Marvel #1 right here!
