WWE's Sheamus on the Elimination Chamber and What He'll Be Watching on the WWE Network

Former WWE and World Heavyweight Champion Sheamus recently returned to TV after six months off due to a debilitating shoulder injury. He made a splash at the Royal Rumble, but was eventually eliminated by rising star Roman Reigns. The next night on RAW however, Sheamus (along with John Cena and Daniel Bryan) earned a spot inside the Elimination Chamber for a chance to win the newly-created "WWE World Heavyweight Championship."

IGN had a chance to speak with Sheamus about his injury, his upcoming match at the Elimination Chamber Pay-Per-View, WrestleMania 30, and the launch of the 24/7 streaming WWE Network.

[For the record, I did not ask him "How many limes is too many limes?" as that was asked and answered in the video below.]

IGN: You've only been back on TV for a short while now. Was this the worst injury you've suffered in your career to date?

Sheamus: Ah, pretty much. Yeah. It's the first time I've ever had to have surgery so I didn't know what to expect. And when I woke up after the surgery, I was in a lot of pain and couldn't move my shoulder. I was just hoping it would heal as quickly as possible because it wasn't a lot of fun. After two weeks though I made the decision to go back to Ireland so I used a bit of Irish medication - which was Guinness and whiskey in the bars in Dublin with my family. So it definitely helped take a lot of the monotony out of it.

IGN: Aside from the obvious pain factor, was it jarring to have so much free time all of a sudden?

Sheamus: Yeah, well the thing of it is the only time you get a long time off like this is when you are injured. So it was kind of like a curse and a blessing at the same time. I definitely made a lot of use of my time. I mean, I spent most of it doing rehab and trying to get back, but it was good to hang out with my family and see my friends since I didn't get to during the last couple years of my career. I got to do a lot of things that I wouldn't have had time to do normally. I made the best of it. The first couple of months were grand, but after about three months I was ready to get back to work. Because it's hard to watch RAW and Smackdown and the Pay-Per-Views when you're not on them. I like to "go" all the time and do as much as possible and when you can't do that you really find yourself feeling restricted. Sometimes you feel like the WWE is passing you by. And then it all starts to feel like a memory. But I've been back on TV now probably about a month and I kind of feel like I'm starting over again. Which isn't a bad thing. I feel like I'm going out there each time now to prove what I can do and remind people who I am.

IGN: While you were a way, they went and unified the two world titles on you. How do you feel about that?

Sheamus: I don't really know, to be honest. I've held both of those titles so obviously they're both special to me. I knew with the brand split being gone that they maybe thought it was more difficult to justify two titles being there, now that everybody's on both shows. For Randy [Orton], it's definitely a huge honor. Two titles. Sometimes I wish they'd just made one championship, a unified championship, so he wasn't going out there wearing two title belts. But I think it was about time to do it. I personally would have liked to see them do it at WrestleMania though. I know it happened at TLC, but for me it would have been more special at 'Mania.

Look at all the limes I give!

IGN: With all the Elimination Chamber's jagged edges and hard surfaces, are you worried about doing too much too soon?

Sheamus: Nah, I feel fine. Depends on if there's a Ladder Match since it's a Ladder Match where I tore my shoulder. But it's good to get it out of the way. You have to get stuck in or else you're going to be afraid of tearing something else or something else going wrong and you can't have that attitude. So I'm looking forward to it. It's a great opportunity for me. A championship match at the pay-per-view before WrestleMania and there's only six spots in there. Which makes it even more special, since I've been away for so long. I just want to get back into the mix really quickly. So I'm just going to get in there and make the best impression I can.
