As popular as the Arkham series of video games has been, we're not surprised that so many companies have been jumping on the bandwagon and offering collectibles based on these games. DC Collectibles already have multiple series of action figures for all three games, as well as a growing line-up of monochromatic statues based on Arkham City and Arkham Asylum. Meanwhile, Square-Enix have tackled a number of characters in their Play Arts Kai format, while Mattel have offered action figures in multiple scales as part of their DC Universe Classics and Batman unlimited lines.
Get ready for more companies to enter the fray in 2014. Sideshow Collectibles recently announced that they'll offering high-end collectibles based on Arkham City and Arkham Asylum. We don't know what that will involve yet, but we're expectign a mix of 1:4 scale premium Format Figures, 1:6 scale figures, and maybe even a life-size bust or two.
But we do have a better idea of what to expect from Kotobukiya as far as the Arkham license goes. Today they released a preview of the first entry in their Arkham City line of ArtFX+ figures. And who better to kick off the line than Batman himself?
Like Kotobukiya's other ArtFX+ series, this statue is made of PVC and is designed at 1:10 scale (about 7 inches tall). An interchangeable hand piece is included, allowing owners to display Batman with either a Batarang or a grappling gun.
If this particular statue reminds you of the one that was included with the Arkham City Collector's Edition set, that's because Koto also designed that one.
No release date has been given for the statue yet (we'd guess fall 2014), but we expect Koto will be revealing more about this new line at Toy Fair in a couple weeks.
